Lovely photos. You are very lucky to have such a variety of birds around you. I really like the Red-Rumped parrots but I've never seen one in the wild. Love the Kookaburra photo :)

Fantastic photos Birdgirl. I like the take off! I have a question, the Red-rumped Parrot, is the red on his back under the wings, or is some on his abdomen? Could it be, that I have seen some down here in Vic? My friend up the road tells me he has Purple-crowned Lorikeets, he sent me a photo, but now that I have seen yours, his looks more like a Red-rumped?

Thanks everyone. I saw even more - kingfishers flying around (I haven't ever noticed them there), butcherbirds, yellow thornbills etc. I only had the basic camera without the teleconversion lens, so I was lucky to get close ones of the dollarbirds.
Birdie, good to see that you have a bit of time to have a look. I hope to see some of your photos soon
Araminta, the red is just on the rump. Here are some photos I threw out, but restored so I could show you how lovely the marking is. In the first, he is holding his wings slightly open so you can see the red clearly. The breast and belly are yellow-green. The browner one is the female. There are lots of small flocks with male-female pairs of red rumps in our area, some even feed on the road
