These Eastern Spinebills dropped into my backyard and made quite a noise as they went about feeding their young. The next day, they had moved on. I forgot to add a picture of their fledglings.

My goodness, don't those plump little fluffy things look just adorable! Hope they revisit even if they do make quite a racket ;D Very well-focused shots!

Wampy,
very nice shots of beautiful birds - whereabouts were they taken? I have seen them only twice here at Seaforth - I suspect the resident noisy miners are too much competition

Thanks for the comments, I took these shots in my backyard while the parents were feeding the young so they weren't too worried about my presence.

There are plenty of them around the bushland of southern Victoria at the moment particularly at the Cranbourne Botanical gardens and the Langwarrin fauna and flora reserve.

Nice photos Wampy. I had about 10 of them in my garden in about winter 2009, they stayed a while in the grevilleas for a few weeks and I've never seen them since. They must move around quite a bit.

As a nice coincidence, a male spinebill did the rounds of our grevilleas this morning. However, the resident noisy miners did not take kindly to this intrusion into their territory - he was quickly chased away
