I stopped in at the Hunter Wetlands Centre on the way home from Newcastle thsi morning (good place for breakfast). I tried to photograph some wrens, then sat on a bench and swatted mossies and ate a Kit Kat. I looked up and two whistling kites were flying quite low over the water! I was not ready; neither was my camera. These shots are taken when teh birds were pretty high and have been cropped, so they are not very sharp.
I think this one is a male superb fairy-wren changing to or from breeding colours.

I've now found a good bench to sit and wait - I just have to pick a day with no cloud now. The whistling kites kept flying against it
