Must be the end of Summer... theh Tawnies are back

I have been delighted to see that the pair of Tawnies have returned to the same roost on the walkway near my home. At first I was very concerned as I thought there was only the one and that he might have lost his mate . I had taken at least 10 shots and was practically climbing the tree before I noticed the mate snoozing behind a dead palm frond!

I always love to see them and no matter how many times I do it is always such a pleasure :')

Fantastic birdie!!! I almost didn't see the second one, my (short sighted husband pointed him out to me. Take note, I got him interested in birds!)What do you mean by,they came back to the same roost? Aren't they staying in the same location? How lucky! We used to have one hunt from our roof for years, until we found him sick on our door step, and had him put down.

Thanks guys. Araminta, by coming back, I mean that they are there at this time every year and they disappear at the beginning of Summer. I presume they go somewhere to breed in Summer, and last year they were in the same palm tree. Before that they were a few hundred meters down the path. I took some shots today to show the "urban habitat" that this walkway is set in, it is a really important feature for the bird life around here. In this suburb we are fortunate enough to have corridors of treed areas that they can easily fly between. I'll post some surrounds shot later separately.
Tassie i have to admit to rustling the undergrowth pretty hard so that I could keep those beautiful eyes open for the first shot . Got plenty with that snooty nose in the air eyes closed look LOL

Thanks birdie, you have just given me an idea for next year,as I count all the birds, that come to my garden every year, I will write down, when they turn up, and when they leave, and I might try to write down where they go, and if they come back to the same spot.

Awwww, aren't they lovely? I never get sick of seeing them and especially hearing them. A few years ago a pair roosted in the next street and sometimes stopped in our yard at dusk
