I went for a drive to Seaham today and stopped in an open area. I saw two birds of prey and assumed they were whistling kites, which I have seen near there. As soon as I looked through the camera I realised they were white-bellied sea-eagles. They flew between me and the low late afternoon sun - I wasn't game to aim the camera at them. Luckily I saw them again between some trees
White-bellied sea-eagle - at a distance, but I can see what it is
Some masked lapwings got very upset when the BOPs flew over
This masked lapwing is heading off to chase a BOP
A whistling kite appeared briefly over the tops of the trees
I noticed the whistling kite roosting in a tree
The shadow of the branch was over its face
This eastern rosella did not mind sitting near a BOP
I snapped a distant royal spoonbill

Great BOP catches Birdgirl..... and the others :) Ha ha rather have the Plovers chasing the BOPs than chasing you LOL
Sunshine Coast Queensland
wonderful shots birdgirl. Love the sea eagle and the bird bombing it.
Cheers, Owen.
I really like the shot of the kite with the rosella. Having the rosella in the shot emphasises the kite's size. And the scene looks kind of... I don't know... peaceful? Thanks for posting.
HI Birdgirl
Nice shots were they at the swamp
Yes beside a swamp with swans, masked lapwings and various ducks
Very good I still have the rosellas at the nest box here this late in the season maybe guarding it for next spring
Wow, nice catch and great series.
Would live to see some white bellied sea eagles myself.

I love photography.
I saw a juvenile at Raymond Terrace yesterday, but it was high against white cloud, so the photos aren't worth posting
We often have rosellas around the box but they didn't nest last spring. They are around now too
