I went to the next suburb to a place I used to see whistling kites and I was just walking along thinking "I should stop coming here, they are never here anymore" when I looked up and saw this Australian hobby at the top of a gum tree in the late afternoon sun. It did quite a lot of scratching and lucky for me some stretching and tail fanning. I have tried to improve the exposure, so some aren't quite as golden as they were

Unreal Birdgirl, you are really doing very well lately. Even the birds are getting to know you, I notice the Hobbie giving you a wave in the 4th...lol
Beautiful shots birdgirl. Can you do a close up of the head and maybe put a close-up of a brown falcon and a peregrine at the same time (of the heads) so we can see the difference between the three? I thought the fourth one was saying "pick me!"

Nice catch Brdgirl. Love the way you've shown his tail feathers when he fanned them.
Cheers, Owen.

Thank you it is such a beautiful bird.
For rjwaring:
Australian hobby.
I have not seen a peregrine falcon but the markings are very similar. Main differences seem to be Peregrine falcon is bigger, its buff half collar does not extend as far back or up and it has pale grey on its belly while the Australian hobby has dark brown/rufous
Brown falcon
Thanks birdgirl, just a chance to see some more BoP! :-) Brilliant shots again though, thanks for sharing
