Very interesting to see birds form other countries. i don't think I'd be out in the snow with my camera though. Did you get any photos of owls?
As I grew up in Germany, your photos of the birds brought back nice memories, but not the snow, I'm afraid ....

Birdie and George, it was really cold. My host family told me that they had had more snow that year than the past ten years put together. Sadly Birdgirl, I didn't see any owls. I might have to go back there one day (in spring or summer!) and see if I can find anything then. I was actually suprised by the number of owl species that aren't entirely nocturnal.
It looks like I'll still be on the lookout for owls (and nightjars). I case anyone was wondering the owl on my avatar is a Barking Owl from the Healsville Sanctuary flight show.
