I went to the Orange Botanic Gardens yesterday on my lunch break for the first time in a couple of months. There were so many birds, it was overwhelming, I didn't know which way to look or point the camera. I know alot of these photos aren't great but I just wanted to show the variety.
Striated Thornbill:
Spotted Pardalote:
Red-browed Finch:

Magpie:
Unidentified (Female Whistler maybe?):
And then on my way out, in some Birch trees all of these birds, along with some Crimson Rosellas, were hanging out together-
Red Wattlebird:
Rainbow Lorikeet:
King Parrot:
I also saw:
Black Duck
Dusky Moorhen
Yellow-faced Honeyeater
Peewee
Blackbird
The weather turned very cold here on Monday, yesterday it only reached 10 degrees, today at top of 8 is expected and snow is predicted for tomorrow. It seems to have brought the birds out though, this morning in my backyard I saw Crimson Rosellas, Galahs, Wood Ducks, Magpies and Wrens.
If you think any ID's are wrong please correct me.
Wow what a collection of birds you saw Akasha. I imagine you did not get much time to eat your lunch, trying to capture all those birds. Well done!
Lovely pics, Akasha. I saw my first Spotted Pardalotes when I went out with Birdie recently. I frequently see Striated Pardalotes, but had never seen Spotted Pardalotes before. Didn't manage to get a photo! Thanks for posting.
Good variety and nice shots akasha. The un-ID'd one looks like an immature golden whistler to me because of the orange streaks on the wing.
Cheers, Owen.
Great collection of birds. It looks like a great place to spend your lunchtime. Congrats on getting the little birds, they are always in the shady bits, behind leaves and always moving. You are braver than I - this morning I was thinking of going out but it was 14oC with a strong wind, so I didn't!
