OHHHHHH!!!! The brahminy kite is outrageously beautiful. I thought it was just white and red-brown, I didn't realise the underwing was so beautifully coloured.
Not to be forgotten, the osprey is beautiful too. I saw some years ago, when we stayed by the river in Port Macquarie. THey cry like a baby, don't they?
It must have been interesting watching them interact. After what you said on the other thread, I didn't think you got any photos.
Do you realise that between us we photographed 6 different BOP today? Not a bad effort!
Thanks Owen Kim and aa
Yes the Brahminy Kite is the most beautiful BOP...each time I have seen one it has taken my breath away it is so awesomely stunning with its red brown against the gorgeous white chest. I remember the first time I saw one it was gliding really low just above my head in a treed area ..... I just stood there like a dummy , camera in the car and watched as it soared off over the trees! Later in the day I found their nest up the highest pine tree ever and was able to watch them come and go. I was really unhappy with these shots of the Osprey especially after the last lot that I took, but that is nature with the juv all independent there are no convenient feed times to watch!!!!
Thanks aa..... I must have got confused about your set up from calculating what the 1.4X did for the 300 that you use as you always were able to get in nice and close.
Yes Alex ( is it Alex or Ace? )it is common to see them carrying a fish like that, I missed a cracker shot before this. I was walking back from the cafe and decided to call my husband to say I would be later home as I was going to walk round a second circuit to see what I could find. Without fail, if he phones, or if I phone him........ the the shot of the day presents itself. I looked up at a shadow while on the phone to see the Osprey above me, swoop down low over me and onto the beach of the river, where he plucked a fish off the sand and flew off with it! I am thinking he must have just dropped it there when I wasn't looking. As usual I flapped around so much that I missed all to it! I am going to forget the phone when I am out now :')
oops doubled up again....
Should have been this distance shot of a territory tussle

Nice shots. Well done on your BOP smorgasboard this week. Is that a fish it is carrying in one of the photos?
I was born to live and I live to die.
