One freezing July morning last winter as I was around a pond in Richmond, NSW, this little bird landed very close to me. Normally, I would not even consider doing so much tidying up in Photoshop, but since the bird is of ideal size and image quality in the frame I decided to use all my Photoshop skills. The result is below with original and processed versions. I spent about 20 minutes using a variety of tools including content-aware fill, some cloning, quick masking and the patch tool. All worth it, but I would not want to present the clean image as an original because I'd be lying not only to the viewer, but also myself. :)
Hi Akos, I like it natural. 20 minutes, that's longer than it takes a girl to put her make-up on? LOL I like the "I would be lying to myself" bit. (makes me laugh, a bit like girls with fake t...s, are lying to themselves?) LOL Great photos! Have a nice day at work!! HaHa

Akos. I hate you! :) Just kidding. Yeah one day I will get a similar quality photo of a kingfisher.
As for the PP, for my personal taste I would leave everything as the original photo but branches removed as you did in your PP photo. I prefer the more saturated colours.
I was born to live and I live to die.
Great catch.
I also like the colours of the first one, these little guys really do have strong colouring, but removing some of the background branches I dont mind so much as it helps put the focus on the subject.

I love photography.
Yes I agree with the boys - the colours in the first are so intense - just beautiful. But small birds always seem to be amongst a clutter of twigs or leaves (around here casuarinas) and the photo does look better without them
...... what about me???? Don't you agree with me?? LOL

I did a special post for you Araminta with the raven going for the WBSE food
akos you didn't need to fix it up. it is stunning anyway. It is very hard to find these birds let alone shoot them so really well done.
Cheers, Owen.
Nice one mate....I don't agree with you Araminta...it takes you girls longer to put make up on than it does to put a new gear box in Kenworth....lol
Well Akos it is a stunning little bird.... I could have sworn I answered this post last night.... something weird is going on with my posting again.
I am sure you already know which image I would prefer.... (you can tell me later LOL) beautiful capture...twigs and all.

... Tassie, you must be hanging out with the wrong girls? There are girls, (like my daughter), who can reverse a foat, with 2 horses into a shed, 2cm each side, in one go, and change a clutch in a car.(and other things, Hahaha?!) Birdie, I do remember you answering this post,....huhuuu!

Ha ha ha...My mum used to tell me I was hanging out with the wrong girls to :)
Yeah that is very strange Araminta I thought I did! Oops... I didn't say anything offensive did I :')
@ Tassie.... I bet you never listened to her anyway and I am sure you will tell Araminta that you can do that with a 5 trailer road train LOL

Lol....no I was thinking that I might ask her to get her daughter to show me how to reverse :)
