Red Wattlebird and Spotted Pardalote

Went to visit my dad over the weekend and couldn't help myself. Went in back yard/small park for a while and found these guys.

Red Wattlebird He was chasing insects and did some nice manouvers.

I have been trying for ages to photograph a Wattlebird doing this, without success. Excellent result, Alex. The Pardalote is the jewel of the bush. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent flight photos with beautifully spread wings and fanned tail. The pardalote is a delightful little bird

Yes the pardalotte is a very pretty bird. I love his colouring. And the wattlebird was chasing insects that I could not even see. Granted I was a bit far but even when zooming in on the photographs I could not see what it was chasing. Top photo though does show something blurry around his beak. May actually be the insect. Hard to see on the small sized photos on this forum though.

Hi Ace
THat fanned out wattlebird's a killer shot mate. I took one almost identical last September.

Absolutely tough as nails to get in flight like that, but looks like you employed some clever thinking and quick reflexes to snare that image. I am impressed mate. You should come out and take some photos sometime. I live just north of the Penrith CBD. You?

Hi Akos, Thanks for the compliments. Your shot is a lot better though. You captured a lot more detail in the feathers than I did. But mine does have all its feathers in the tail. 12 of them. Yours is missing one ;)

And wow mate. That sounds great. You are not close to me but definitely not too far either. It would be a great opportunity for me to learn. I live in Wollongong. My parents live in Campbelltown. I have very little free time atm with my young son but I will see if I can get permission from the boss for a day some time in near future. Very much appreciate it. Thanks.
