Juvenile swamp harrier

This morning I went to my favourite BOP place and saw 2 wedge-tailed eagles, adult and juvenile white-bellied sea eagles, whistling kites and a juvenile swamp harrier! It was the loveliest chocolatey brown. In most photos the eyes look dark, but I have one where they are bright yellow. I can also see white on the rump and banding on the tail. I had my best ever close-up flight opportunity of a white-bellied sea eagle and my card was full! grrrr! (I had taken a lot of photos)

I saw a brown falcon at my other place. I wish I hadn't chopped bits off it, or I would have had some good flight photos.

That Brown falcon shot is really sharp Kim, it is the nature of the beast that they move fast and we don't always have time to react.... good shots anyway. I saw a juv WBSE today several times, and as usual I was driving or something ! What struck me as it passed over the car though was just how big they are compared to other birds....just beautiful to watch it soar and circle.

great shots. i'm sure you'll get more opportunities with so many bOP's around.

Cheers, Owen.

Very nice Kim. Well done with the harrier. I hope to have my dream image(s) of my local SH pair by next summer now that my new toy is on its way to papa! ;-)

Not sure if yours is a juvenile though, as its missing primaries that seem to indicate it's in molt. Though both females and juvies are quite dark. I would think a young bird may not necessarily molt. But I'll have a look at my HANZAB plates later at home. :-)
