White faced Heron was sharing the drain today.

Very nice well lit shots Birdie. The egret and heron are very similar birds.

Cheers, Owen.

Thanks Owen, they were hanging out together in the drain at the edge of the area where I found the red berry tree the other day. When they flew they both went to trees near each other, very hard to get the exposures right on such a bright white bird as the egret

Beautiful shots. I have trouble with exposure of a bright white bird. The sky is a magnificent shade of blue. It looks as if that is the place to go

Thanks Kim, it is very accessible on the edge of the soccer and netball fields and close to the river and water treatment plant so I guess that is why there is a good variety there.
I saw an adult White Bellied Sea Eagle but couldn't get close today. he hunts there very often too.
It may be pertinent to note that any reasonable camera kit could take these shots and remember I only have the cheap crappy kit ;')
(For those who may think otherwise). Optimum conditions give optimum performance with any gear.

Nice set of shots birdie. Particularly like the flight shot. Beautiful feathers.

Thanks Geecee... if I hadn't panicked so much when it flew the rest of them might have been in focus..... I was too close when it swooped down over me but the view with the backlight through the wings was stunning.

Great shots birdie. Especially the heron. The ones around here are very flighty and hard to get good photos of.

Excellent, excellent and excellent Adrienne! Well done! BTW, Kim, if you want to NOT have troubles exposing white birds, shoot on a cloudy day, or early/late in the day when the light does not blow the whites to bits. ;-)
