Honeyeater?

Hi everybody, my first post.

This little guy was hovering around our property in Montville on the w/e, he looks like some variety of Honeyeater? any ideas?

This site has a photograph of a flycatcher which is very similar to the one above:

Hey mrc only just found this post...great shots! the first one I ever saw was at Witta.... you are in the BEST spot for birds and wildlife...I used to live there too :)
Are the flycatchers superb to watch catch insects?
Well done for tracking the action !

Thanks birdie,

I really cannot comment as that is the first flycatcher i have seen, i thought it was a Willy Wagtail initially, then maybe a Honeyeater - i'm obviously no expert on birds so i thought i should get an internet brain extention. He seemed to spend a bit of time on the lawn, probably picking up lawn grubs, then the aerial display went on for quite a while.

We do get quite a variety of birds on the property, plenty of Kookaburras, Forest Kingfishers, Willy Wagtails, Whipbirds, Eastern Robins and around this time of year the Rosellas and King Parrots come around to feed on the Pidgeon Peas - and to pinch whatever fruit they can get.

The birds are pretty happy here mainly because it is a good balance of rainforest, orchards and open paddocks with plenty of water - there is plenty for them to feed on.

We are planting more bird attracting plants around the house, Grevillea (Firesprites etc) and Lilly Pillies, so hope to attract more of the smaller birds.

Hi Araminta, Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Yeah - we love it up here too. Its a beautiful panorama out to the coast, and the variety of wildlife is enormous - Gods country alright.

Of all the birds that frequent the property the Kookaburras are the most welcome, best way to limit the local snake population..
