Lovely photos mate, I would tend to think it's a pied heron (not ibis!) from the yellow beak and yellow legs compared to the grey beak and grey legs of white necked heron. Looks like he let you get nice and close to him though :)

Great series of shots Narly. It looks a lot like a Pied Heron developing that grey cap on the head. Definitely a heron though.
