One of my favorite spots to go.
In summer you nearly always get surprised by some thing unusual. Just the usual yesterday, but sun was out and it was a very enjoyable outing.

Sorry, these pic's were all around reef island. I will do a new post for Flinders which i visited about a month ago.
Hey Reckless, nice shots but could you do us a favour? Could you please give the names of what you have taken? I believe it is really important on this Forum to educate people about what and where things are shot so they can all learn.
Sometimes we have been forgetting that recently in the haste to add newer and more spectacular photos I feel. ( no reflection on you here I can assure you :') )
I always enjoy seeing your shots and also ... where is Reef Island. Sorry to be ignorant LOL

Thats all cool Birdie,
Little pied cormorants and Little black cormorant.
Double banded plover
Masked lapwing
Male and female Flame robins
Cattle egret
Cheers Birdie, Reef island is a very small island just before Phillip island.
Hey thanks Reckless.... I have been down that way but not for many years. I was also wondering about what you use for image hosting? I didn't recognise the URL and was wondering if you are able to easily reduce the size to 500 on the longest edge? That would prevent the cropping. I love Little Pied Cormorants they are always entertaining to watch and come up so well in photographs due to their shape and colour.

Birdie, i'm not much on computers. I have an old laptop which i dont think is good for picture editing.
I upload to Picasa after croping on photoshop. I mainly crop to what i like and then use photo ratio which ajusts it a little. I had trouble with a Red rumped parrot last week.
I'm not sure what to do, i'm just happy to get a pic up there.
I'm still picking up on hints i get of here.
OK so you are using Picasa Web Albums? It is a bot hard to knwo how each different package resizes, and I must admit I have never had any luck in Picasa trying to do it ! That is why I use Flickr as a host site ...cos it does the thing for you LOL You can find a way to resize in Photoshop, but you need to follow a few steps. I have forgotten how to do it but it is worth doing it as you can optimise the image so that it looks good but ends up the image size that you want

Nice bunch of pics, reckless. I didn't know that the Flame Robins were found there. Reef Island is a gem for birds. I have been there a few times and even stayed on the island for an entire tide cycle. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks GeorgeP, The flame robins were where you park the car.
I would of seen five males and heaps of female robins. It is a great spot, always get excited on the drive down with expectations.
nice series Reckless. Love the Double-banded Plover. Never seen one before and I would love to. Port Phillip Bay can be quite rewarding.
Cheers, Owen.
They are a lovely little bird. They are just starting to get their breeding plumage. Makes them look even more amazing.
Reef Island is in Western port, but along with Port phillip they are great spots to visit.
Thanks for the info, reckless. I might drive down there in the next week or so. I presume that the Flames overwinter in that location.

First time I've seen them there GeorgeP but i have only been their a few times. The amount of robins i seen, i would say they will definately be there an till breeding season when i think they head of to the alpine areas.
