Little Swan

I was testing my new (used) camera yesterday at Richmond and was glad to have seen a few nice subjects to photograph. This is a 3-week old Black Swan cygnet. The horizontal is a full frame shot, the vertical is very close to FF.

Hope you like them. :-)

You mean these very same ones at the lagoons in Richmond? I didn't see you there. I was shooting from about 0730 - 1100 yesterday (Sat) morning.

Sorry i should have said i was at my local park in stawell the swans get harassed by kids and it puts them in a bad mood they spend most of the time on an island in the middle of the lake

They are very tame at this lagoon. Lucky that no idiot kids harass them, or at least it appears that way. :-)

Ohh, they are so cute! (great photos, as always!) we went to the Coolart Wetlands (near Hastings), it was cold and rainy, so we didn't stay for long. The Ibis(es?) had started building nests. The ranger said, the Eastern Spinebills have already babies. (I wasn't wrong last week, when I heard some in my garden) Everything is early, far too early, as it's still winter!! So, you like your new lenses, Akos!!??

Akos,
Thanks for posting those and I can understand your joy and you chose a really cute subject to post....adorable and beautiful shots :')
I remember back in the days of the original EOS1 ( 35mm) and I was working in Perth for its release. The first Pro to test drive it for us was Michael Morcombe and he did a set of transparencies with his wife in the wetlands with an island nest. His wife Irene got chased and attacked and he caught it all on film..... result was some incredible shots and some action stuff as well. It was such a revolution in cameras with the new EF mount that I have never forgotten those images of the Black Swans. Of course Perth was full of them and every Spring brings fresh ones :)

You well know that lenses are more important, but the higher end cameras sure make a bird photographer wannabe's job far easier. :-) thanks for all your support, always. :-)

nice shots of such a cute little bird Akos. They cygnets often look more like ducks than swans.

Cheers, Owen.
