Black-shouldered kite

I had just been thinking I hadn't seen any black-shouldered kites for a while

I saw this one as soon as I got out of my suburb. It was looking for prey below

It was so pretty

I tried to catch the red eyes

They gleamed red just for a second when it turned its head
It stayed there for ages

Watching and waiting ... just like me

You wouldn't believe it but this Little Falcon landed on the power line only about 20 m from the BSK. I took this photo from the same place (in the car)

I drove along one of my favourite BOP roads and found another one

I could see the red easily

Too beautiful

Interesting and beautifully clear shots, the perfect blue sky makes a great background.

Great series and very sharp with good backgrounds. They are very attractive birds and nice find with the Hobby.

Cheers, Owen.

Thanks everyone.
qyn55 - I would like to have that name. BOP are my first love in the bird world, sort of like fighter jets are my first love in the plane world. We had F/A 18's fly low over us yesterday

... but I like any new birds, and any new behaviiour

Hi BOPgirl, those first birds have beautiful eyes, that touch my heart.I can't get enough of them.Looking forward to the next lot.
Where do you live? I have never seen any F/A 18's down here.(Aren't those the old planes nobody wanted, because they are so outdated??) M-L

Araminta I live near Newcastle. There is an airforce base at Williamtown.
I took this at an airshow there, not the other day, when 3 flew over to mark the 71st anniversary of the World War II Battle of Britain.
You are probably thinking of the f1-11's which have just been retired. This is one doing a flame out
