Last year I managed to crawl through the culvert and catch he babies in the nests, but am unable to do so this year so I was really happy to find that daycare was in progress as I walked across the bridge .... they were so cute
Dad flew in from drinking nearby to supervise the kids
Not sure if this was an older juv or the Mum

Hi Birdie,
you've captured some nice character in these photos.
What camera-lens outfit do you use?
Hi Lukecla and thank you. II use the very basic DSLR kit from Canon that is now superceded ...the EOS 1000D adn the lens I use for my birding is just the kit lens EF75-300. i have been doing photography for many years but am relatively new to bird photography (only 2-3 years). I have no bells and whistles just the camera and a monopod as it doesnt have image stabilisation. BUT I have a huge wishlist ha ha .

Great series and nice detail on the glossy parents. The young ones look very cute and I haven't seen a young swallow before so thanks for sharing this.
Cheers, Owen.
I think they have their eye on you ! Really nice 'daycare' pictures. Thanks.

Great photos birdie, love the last two, they just look at you as if saying "look how cute I am!"
Very nice pix. Thanks for sharing them.
They are really sweet. The last one is just beautiful
I went back the next week and the babies had progressed to sitting on the top railing , looking very cute with their baby fluff still hanging out in bits and pieces and ruffling in the wind. I didn't have a camera or I could have got a great close up .

Don't you hate it when that happens. I missed the best Mistletoe bird shot once because it was one metre away when I was picking blackberries and the camera wasn't on me!
I didn't realise your camera doesn't have IS. You are doing a super job without it.
Cheers, Owen.
