Merry Christmas all, I have recently acquired a Canon 40D and Canon 70-200L lens second hand to start my birding journey. I have always loved watching and listening to birds and now I can attempt to capture them as well.
Couple of weeks ago I visited Lake Conjola on the South Coast and stumbled across several Welcome Swallows among the shrubs. There was one post which was used as a vantage point and I managed to get close enough for a shot.
I also spotted some Crested Terns on the beach. I didnt get close enough for them to be properly in focus but I had a go anyway.
Thanks for looking.
The young WS looks very cool. I think it is a young bird because the gape is still bright yellow. The adults lose that color there. Young birds would also let you get a lot closer than older ones. You'll soon want a much longer lens. :-) Welcome to the world of bird photography. Probably the most frustrating (though rewarding) hobby you could wish for.
Merry Xmas to you! :-)
Thanks for the comment, yes the 200mm is too short and I purchased a 2x converter second hand to give me some extra reach. Only drama is the IQ takes a hit and aperture is ltd to 5.6 so needs pretty good light. Anyway I am saving for the mythical soon to be released EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM EXTENDER 1.4x.
Nice sharp photos especially the first one.
