A couple of days ago we found the above on our driveway. We picked it up because we have at least 12 magpies and 2 resident crows that had they seen it, would have attacked it. We have been feeding it and such and it seems to be doing well, though remarkably quiet for a baby.
It has almost all adult feathers, and a short tail. I am guessing that it would have fledged within a fortnight.
I really wanted to know whether it will be able to be released once it was flying etc. Do they have feeding instinct or is it a taught behaviour.
Thanks

Never mind. We found it Friday and though it seemed quite happy over the weekend. This morning(mon)it was looking pretty bad, and by this afternoon it died.
Hi Daggart,
Unfortunately many birds go into shock and die very quickly when in care. I am so sorry the little one couldn't be saved.
