I've knocked up a little birdfeeder and there is a sulphur crested that has come around a couple of times, it really doesn't look good at all. Is there anything I can do for him/her.

It's the Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD).
You should contact your local wildlife rescue organisation.

Currently, in Victoria, many parrots affected by the disease, including Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Galah. So, whoever have bird-feeder in the garden/backyard, please be careful, because the disease will spread, not only to wild birds that come to your bird-feeder, also might affect your pet birds.

Perhaps stop feeding them for a while (unless they are dependant on you) until the bird dies? This may sound cruel but it will help prevent the spread of disease and perhaps regularly sterilizing the bird bath if you have one could help as well.
I have a Cocky the same his quality of life is very comfy...much love but yes he is a 60percent indoor boy due to he cannot fly.He has herbal remedies Id be happy to share to help with the birds quality of lfe and comfort.
For example to aid a flaking chipping beak try painting the beak with Duoderm gel play with a brush untill familiar with the object. The bird should also be ostracised from other cockies, ie, wild or pets but the Pistacias disease is a Cruel one I spray warm water with Eucalyptus oil added to wash his wings etc then dry him with silk scarves.He preens and looks after himself and is highly affectionate.Plantain or the common weed plantago officinallis is abundant in most australian backyards ...........This washed and crushed added to olive oil is an excellent poultice creme for open woulds .Clove oil is good for painfull feathers and Foot fungal probs.Place clove oil on perches at night to ease fungal foot probs Tea tree oil is great for lice or feather infections .Tried and tested also works on humans .All available at health food stores.Lavender oil 100 percent is also highly effective on fatty lumps on birds skin and or plantain motar`npestle dandilion weed with eucalyptus oil and put at night on birds feet or skin wound.
