Ibis with broken leg...

Hello, I came across a young sacred Ibis with a badly broken leg, the break was high up near the hip joint, I phoned three vets telling them about it, they all said the Ibis would have to be put down as there was nothing that could be done, I decided against this and put it in a very large cage, fed it cat biscuits, cat food, dog food, and would you belive in around 4 months its leg had totally healed- not even a limp, I called him Ibby, he use to honk when he was hungry-Very Funny. I set Ibby free two months later, so if you know some-one who ever comes across a broken legged Ibis there is no need to have it put down as it will heal.

A spoonbil with a hoppy leg used to arrive at our farm each winter for seventeen years, hope your ibis lives as long.

Yes it was a very good feeling to see ibby fly away, there are a few ibis out our way evenknow its country, Now and then I do see a Ibis fly over our house, On one occasion i did see a ibis fly low over and he looked like he was looking down- maybe it was Ibby,I forget to mention when i first found him he was filthy so i gave him a shower with me to clean him up, my partner thought it was very funny.....
