I've just worked out how to include an image in a message and thought I should pass it on.
Step 1. Post your image on a website somewhere. I found flickr to be an easy site to use, but there are lots of others. Try going to http://www.flickr.com/ and follow the instructions. (This is quite handy anyway, because you can refer anyone to your photos this way).
Step 2. Once you have uploaded your image to a website, right click on the image and select "Properties". Select and copy the location that your image will now have (cntrl C).
Step 3. In your forum message type: open square bracket img close square bracket, then paste the web address of the image (without any spaces), then finish by typing open square bracket /img close square bracket.
Step 4. Finish your message.
I think the reason for this is that if everyone pasted images directly into messages, the system would clog up and run slow.
Here is my test photo. If you right click on it an select "properties", you will see the flickr web address.
Photobucket works as well - apologies for the size of the photo
So you can also register on photobucket.com and upload photos there. Then just copy the option under each photo labelled 'image code' and paste that into your message here
Thanks. Worked perfectly. *thumbs up*
If people post a link to the photo in Flickr, Photobucket etc we could then see it large size. Which might be necessary for IDs at least.

Above I used imageshack. Don't need the img tags apparently. The thumbnail links directly to the original sized pic. Any way of editing your original post btw?
May I just mention that some of us poor folks are still on d i a l u p which is s l o w
and much as I would love to, pics over 200kb take too long to download :(
am I alone in this ?
anyway..just a thought...
^^I guess another good reason for using thumbnails. Then you can choose whether or not to look at the larger pic.

Ah its too confusing....

You were nearly there, Birdfreak. Just have to put "img" and "/img" tags around the link. And those tags need to have square brackets instead of the quote marks.
What is your bird? And where was it photographed?

Good on you Birdfreak.
And now that the image is bigger I've sussed what it is. Crimson Finch, no? I've never seen those before. How absolutely gorgeous!

no you are probably not alone. When I am at work I like to use BIBY but I use my mobile as a modem and have a very low mb allowance for the month. That's a good reason why everyone should reduce the size of their images before uploading them here. If we need to see the image for identification as a larger size then it could be managed a different way, such as a link to the full sized image maybe?
The lovely image that birdfreak finally managed to post is only 147KB and its good.

hmmm I'm not having much luck trying to upload a photo.... what am I doing wrong? or do I just need a brain transplant?!

you forgot the slash before the final img. Also you need to copy the location of the larger image that you want to show, not the thumbnail. i.e. open it up then copy location

Hi Rainbowkookaburra
Posting worked - sort of . Photo too wide for this format, that's all.
Try re-sizing to 600 pixels X 400.

Testing posting from shutterfly:

Think I'm going to have to load my pics onto another site for posting here. It's awfully annoying to have to post links all the time:( That picture transferred ok but way too small and I know the original was taken with decent size and dimensions. Ugggh! Frustrating!

Saw someone else posted something on thumbnails instead of the image so going to try one last shot with the photo from shutterfly. If it doesn't work, hotmail photos here I come:)
