Sorry to be thick!

I am a new member and would like to put a photo onto the Best Bird Photo page - can't see how to upload it.
Help please!

Tassie

Gidday Lyn, welcome to the forum.
You are not thick , you are just having the same problem we all had when we first started.
Have a look under "Announcements and Help" and see how you go from there,if you are still having probs yell out,it took me about 4 tries before I got it :)
I am waiting to see your Adelaide Rosellas.

Have read about using a "host" to use photos. Could I use photos from my "Facebook" photos or does it have to be through a Photo Site?

Ok Lyn it's not too hard to do. just go to your photo album and bring up the full image of the photo you want to upload.
Right click on the photo and when you see the drop down menu click on "copy image location"

Then log in to the from and do the following

type [img] then without a space right click and copy the image location that you have saved.

then without a space again type [/img]
and there you have it... post your picture by the same way you would any other post, hit reply that is in most cases. If it is a new topic then just click on new topic.

Good luck

Cheers Birdie

Birdie - I haven't given up on posting a photo of the Adelaide Rosellas (it is going to be an anti-climax if I can ever do it!) but the drop-down Menu hasn't got a "Copy image location".
May have to go to Flickr.

I posted the above picture from my facebook site. I think the fault lies with your browser as it wouldn't work too well for me with Explorer . I use mozilla Firefox as a browser and i find everything so much easier. You can download it for free . Maybe you should give it a try.
When I tried with explorer it only gave me a save or copy shortcut option which does the same thing. I'll just try it here to see if it works

Hi Lyn
.
I tried to edit your image link.
You had the start and finish bracketed items in reverse order.
But even when I fixed that, it will would not work.
Please go to the General pages, to follow detailed instructions alrady on this site to find out how to upload photos.
Suggest try FLickR or other photo hosting site.
.
Other members of this forum have to be members of facebook to visit your site.
Not all are.

Just out of interest Denis, Can anyone else who isn't on facebook see my photo of the dog above? If so then you don't need to be a member.
Because I can see it i am assuming that everyone can
let me know

And Tassie if you can see him and you are not a member of facebook then it goes to show that people should be able to use their facebook account for a host to their photos

Lyn you are I think copying the link location and not the image location. look again on your drop down menu on the facebook large version of your photo. You need image location not link.

Hope it works for you. If you are someone who already has albums uploaded it would save starting up a new account . I have never put bird shots on there as I just use Flickr for them. But Facebook should work the same way.

Cheers

Well yes, Birdie, your posting worked. I had thought if I could go to Lyn's Facebook a/c I could re-publish it for her, but I could not see her image, as I would need to sign in.
But you have proved that Facebook works just as well as the other hosting sites.
Cheers

PS Nice memory of your Shepherd.

Hey guys
Thanks for that, although I'm not a facebook fan I know many people rely on it . At least we have solved another of life's little mysteries.
Smeedingo .... that accounts for your name?

Can I suggest that we re start this discussion under the social forum? As I would so love to see a pic of your dingo.
We sometimes get way off topic in our conversations and I wouldn't want to upset other users.

Re my shepherd, that was taken in NZ about 4 years ago, he died just over 2 years ago before we returned to Oz and we still think of him every day. :(
That is why I find myself collecting photos of other beautiful shepherds.

Cheers

Birdie

PS All animals are beautiful . I rescued a currawong with a broken wing this week so I feel good about that.

Thanks Birdie - your pup is gorgeous!
It depends on how you have your Privacy settings set as to who can see your page on Facebook. I have mine set to "Friends Only" who I have to invite to see my page. I only use Facebook for photos as they automatically resize them which saves me the trouble.
I have gone to Firefox and found your "Copy Image Location" and thanks Denis - I will read that link thoroughly!

Lyn, are you still having uploading images issues?
If so I can help you with that.

Tark - I am still a bit nervous about the uploading and not sure how you get more than one photo (and the caption with the name of the bird) on the same posting. With the pidgeons - I loaded the first photo which loaded fine, but then hit "reply" - probably wrong - to load a 2nd photo and the 1st photo minimized. Shock, horror, and I haven't tried multiple photos since.
If I upload 2 image locations one after the other, will the system sort it out for me?

Hi Lyn – I don’t have a Facebook account so I can't help you there, but I wanted to suggest that you open a Photobucket account (a non-intrusive photo-hosting website) and you’ll see how easy it is to upload your images to your PB album and to link them to BiBY from there.
.
Once they are in your album you simply copy the Photobucket image code (IMG code IMG) assigned to each of your pictures and paste that code into the BiBY Reply window. It’s that easy and its FREE!
http://register.photobucket.com/
.
When you’ve registered, please let me know if you need further help. Note: Photobucket may prompt you to download Flash Player, but pictures upload very fast without it.
.
You are welcome to email me if you wish:
