Hi all !! My name is ozziekate07 and am new on Birds in Backyards!!
I have a problem with my yellow princess parrot hen !! Well i think she is the problem ?? or maybe the cock ?
She laid one egg , and the next day it was on the ground !! then the next day she laid another , which ended up on the ground !! Then a third !!! which ended up on the ground , then a couple of days later I checked in her box and there were 3 more in the box , but she wasn't sitting on them , so i set up the incubator and put the remaining 3 in there , but not sure if they had gone too cold , Could there be a problem with her ? Could the cock be tossing them out , so he can keep mating ?
my other princesses are all in the box doing the right thing !!!! , has any one had this problem also??
cheers Ozziekate07

I have only bred budgies, but often it is a competing female that chucks the eggs out of the nest. If that is not a problem it could just be that the birds think the eggs are infertile or they are just predisposed to do it.
Again, you need to know who the culprit is before doing anything, but if the bird is not sitting on her eggs then perhaps she is just not ready.

No insult intended but you would probably be better posting this type of question on a bird breeder's forum. What wild birds do you get at your place?

Thankyou for replying !! Any suggestions for a bird breeders forum ?
the wild birds we have around are king parrots, noisy minor birds , galahs, rosellas, lorikeets,
we only have 1 pair per aviary , so it wouldn't be a competing hen !! cheers ozzie

no idea about breeder's forums but you should be able to find one if you google "bird breeding forums" or "caged bird forum". Best of luck with that and have fun watching the natives as well.

buy a peice of builders chalk and attach it to the inside of the nest box just above the entrance so it rubs on the back of any birds entering the box that way you can tell who is using it ,could be another hen who wants that box they can be very stubborn about these things and end up fighting insted of sitting
