Just thought I might share the sign I found at the local reserve. I don't know who commissioned the signs, but they were pretty clueless!
Now I must admit I've never heard of a Large Black Cormorant before, or a Black - Billed Spoonbill, certainly a Great Cormorant and Royal Spoonbill, but not the birds on the sign. I've sent in an email so they can rectify the mistake, hopefully they'll listen :)

i hope they don't do the sign's for walkways.
Hmmm, that's a bit strange - they got the Latin names right but not the common names. I would have thought that the Latin names were the tough bit.

They might not be the standard names for both species. But some people do use those names for Great Cormorant and Royal Spoonbill.
Same as Magpie-lark, also called Mudlark, Murray Magpie, Peewee, and even Peewit.
