Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me, why the male Magpie Lark here keeps taking stuff out of my pond and then flying off? He seems to grab wet grass, wet moss, almost anything out of my pond. He's been doing this for the last three days. I would have thought this would be the wrong time of the year to build a nest.....or is it?

According to Simpson and Day, Magpie-larks don't have an off season for nesting. From now until spring is the low season but nesting still takes place. Ray
Thanks for your reply raysimula. He doesn't seem to do it all the time but when he does he seems to take off with large amounts of wet grassy greenery, then next time I see him he doesn't seem interested at all with the greenery in the pond.......unless, there are two Male magpie-Larks in the area and I'm mistaking it as one?!
