Kakudu unknown bird

On a recent trip to Kakadu I saw this bird but I am not sure what it is. Can you help? The nearest I got was a Stilt but I am not sure that that is correct. [/img]

I couldn't work out how to add in image! Anyway I have managed to identify the bird as a Jacana. If you know how to add in image please let me know as I have a couple of other birds I am not sure about.

Hi Philip
Try these instructions.
http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/forum/messages.cfm?threadid=0D28872D-BD77-C218-7FB35680281A8A9B
Having said that, I cannot master it myself.
Images need to be stored at not large sizes, or they will not transmit to the system.I use Flickr (as the default to Blogger's photo hosting site). It will not work for me when trying to post photos.
And from memory, Bubbleshare is closing down.
So I suggest you go with the likes of Photobucket.
Cheers
Denis

If you use Flickr:

  1. Click on 'all sizes' above your photo.
  2. Select medium.
  3. Copy the URL in the box below '2. Grab the photo's URL:' it should begin with http:// and end with .jpg
  4. Add the img tags either side of the URL[img] [/img]

Hi Marj
.
I shall persevere with that.

I think the photo width should be less than 500 pixels.

Hi! I love Jacanas and would love to see your photo.
I had trouble at first too - but changed to Mozilla Firefox, which works a treat.
I get the photo to 500 pixels and use both Facebook & Photobucket as a storer.
When loaded right click to bring up "Save Image Location" and then do your posting on the forum using
Watch that forward / in the last bracket......still catches me out!!
Good Luck and keep trying.

Woops - that should be after "using".... the image code in the New Post.
And I should have said, when you have saved your pic - open it to fullsize - then Copy Image Location.

Totally confused now? I hope not!

Hi Lyn
I use flickr and firefox as my browser too, maybe firefox is why I don't have too much trouble viewing etc.

Everyone has trouble in the beginning though!

Just a follow-up. I did contact Philip and his bird was a Comb-crested Jacana. It had a very tiny comb - I hope I was right in presuming it was a young bird.
Philip was a tourist and has returned to England - it was good to identify his bird for him (especially as it was a bird that I knew, - and my knowledge is pretty limited!)
