Hullo All
I'm trying to identify several local (Melbourne, Victoria area) bird calls; we're finishing a cd of SE Australian bird songs and it'd be nice to add some names
Have placed short audio files of the calls on my site here:

Any help would be appreciated

in the pound bend one i can hear several calls, indian myna at the start, magpie at the end, sulfur-crested cockatoo in the middle, and noisy miner squeaking in the background.
Cheers, Owen.
Thanks Owen
It's the soft 'ooo ooo' in the background I'm after the name of; sounds like a dove (?) of some sort
It's pretty quiet but continues ..

i have heard this lots and it is a common bronzewing pigeon.
they spend a lot of their day on the ground and can be quite hard to spot.

Hi Peter,
I think toolangi bird 1 could be a Golden Whistler (compare with calls here http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Pachycephala-pectoralis). I'm not sure if bird 2 is the same or not.

Thanks; think you're right on both idents
Isn't the environ influence fascinating - esp on the toolangi calls - seems to dominate to the extent that the bird call 'just' triggers the sound of the environment .. and it changes somewhat as soon as you go over the hill, or round the corner
May I add that the calls I'm seeking to identify come from around Healesville, Toolangi, the Prom and 'pound bend' (in Warrandyte) - think we've got this last one though
Thanks for the help
Cheers
Peter
