But what is it? It was in the bottlebrush with the rainbow lorikeets up high and this one on its own kept much lower in the tree. also seems to be chewing more on the seeds than the flowers. Thanks for your help.

Isn't that a ringneck? or an escapee of some sort Alex?
I gather it was pale blue? it is a bit hard to tell from the backlit shots.....lovely shots anyway

It's definitely a Indian Ringneck who is a colour mutation. They are often escaping from their owners. I know someone who's Ringneck escaped overnight and in the morning they found it behind the petrol station across the road.

Do you know if they are breeding in the wild here in Australia?

I think that there would be the occasional pairing of escapees so they must breed rarely.
