I think the top one is a satin bower bird, and I think that the bottom one is a juvenile striated heron. Mind you, I haven't always been right (nowhere near always), but we saw a striated heron at Broadbeach and it does look similar. Could the middle one be a black-backed butcherbird? Whereabouts are you?

Thanks Meave,
I am on the South Coast of NSW and thought it might have been the black-backed until I saw the range in my birdbook.
Bottom one is most likely a young Striated Heron and the pose looks like their typical sneaky ways.
Cheers, Owen.
Male satin bower for sure, luv the eye colour, thinkin maybe a pied butcher & i agree with meave, immature striated heron. nice pics
if your happy when your birding, flap your wings.
Thanks to the panel!
The purple eye threw me on the bowerbird. Cheers
You'r Butcherbird is a Grey Butcherbird, the pied has a black under chin/upper breast or bib. Ray
Thanks Ray,
That solves it for me. Three out of three.
