I used the link that appeared in my email notification - I can't see the entire bird but it looks like a gannet, or perhaps a booby. Hopefully it recovered.
I thought booby initially. Wasn't sure if they were found around here. Thanks Andy and Meave. Sorry about my failed posts. If I had read Noisy Major's instructions better I would have gotten it right the first time.

The head was completely white - the gannnet has a yellowish head doesn't it?
Yes, it does, findingout, but I think I detect a pale yellow wash on this bird's head as well as a black eye patch. It certainly looks like a gannet to me & the gannet is a reasonably distinctive bird.
