Back on the 9th of Jan I posted a very long range photo of some flying Ibis. They were identified as Straw Necked Ibis, but the photo was pretty dodgy as they were so far off. I now have some taken at a much closer range in my neighbour's backyard, and they don't look like photos of SNI's I have seen on the websites. Any ideas anyone?

Straw Necked Ibis?
Hi Roger,
Nice photos - I especially like the one in which the bird has its wings raised.
I think that these are juvenile Straw-necked Ibis. I think that as they get older, there will be a more clear demarcation of black / white on the neck.
Andy.
Thanks Andy, I wondered about that possibility as many birds that seem to be the wrong colour to me, often turn out to be juvenile. They are often browner than adult. Camouflage perhaps? These 2 have been travelling around here for a few days as a pair, so I thought they were adults.
Regards Roger
Hi Roger, like Andy I love the one with te raised wings. I love the way the light filters through the wings, beautiful. M-L
