Just had to add this to the gardening section of the Forums . I hardly ever visit here but I had to say that if you want a tree that is beautiful to look at , gives good screening and shelter for birds plus when it blooms it will have them fighting over it then consider this one,
It is native to Queensland so may not be suited to everywhere

Here is a photo of it in full bloom ..... right now in SE Queensland
I should warn you that it will be a target for the more aggressive honey eater and nectar feeding birds judging from what I am seeing in my garden
As you indicate, being native to northern Queensland it would suit tropical areas. Alas, I fear it would curl up & die where I live, birdie. As well as having the right conditions, I also think it advisable before planting to be aware of its potential for invading natural bushland. But what a stunner it is!
It is a beautiful plant - we had one in the garden for a few years but for some reason it never grew beyond about 1 1/2 meters, and had very few flowers. We do have clay soil, perhaps it didn't suit it. We seem to do grevilleas better, and the paperbarks love it here. Luckily the birds like both, we have lots of each.
