A walk by the river this afternoon has me struggling to identify a small brown bird, it was the shape of a whistler, (but its call was a single short very high pitched sound), smaller than a rufous whistler, bigger than a thornbill. No distict eyebrow like a Gerygone (Still don't know how to say it M-L), the bill was more like a Pardalote. I have no idea, the eye is dark reddish brown, (see pics).
I hope someone can help.
Boy, would I like to know! I have been staring at Simpson&Day(page 217) for so long, that I see red-eyed Gerygone everywhere. LOL I still think this juvenile is changing right now into one. In photo 3,if you have close look, you could see the eye getting a darker ring, and the throat could turn white? White-throated Gerygone?
But then again, Whistlers have those red eyes and the patch of white on the throat.
Oh, I'm no wiser now than I was half an hour ago, now I need help......

If it's any help, there were two, one was on the river side of the path I was on and the other was opposite. They were calling to each other, one then the other. They both looked very similar, but I couldn't get a photo of the other one. Makes me doubt they were juvenile. I listened to the call of a brown gerygone while I was there using the BIB website on my phone and it was completely different. The call was very high pitched and just a single note.
If anyone knows, it would be Owen,( he is working hard for school at the moment. )
I'll send him an e-mail, see what he thinks, he is good with ID.
