Major Mitchell Cockatoos

Saw these MMC's at a roadside stop, so glad I needed a break from driving.

Excellent photos!!!!

Where did you see them? I've never seen a MMC in the wild. I'm very jealous :)
I have however seen a hybrid of a Galah and a MMC, strange..

a roadside stop about 120 kms east of Uluru/Yulara. MMCs are quite common around Central Australia at the moment due I think to the rain we have had over the past 12 months and the abundance of, amongst other foods, paddy melons, which the MMCs are one of the few birds to have included these in their diet. thanks for the comment.

I've succumbed to the birding bug!

Terrific, rjwaring. One of my great birding experiences was during a SA Ornithological Association camp on Sturt Vale station in SA. Late every afternoon a flock of Major Mitchell cockatoos flew past the camp at about 6 metres. They had the rush hour to themselves.
