WHITE DUCKS

These ducks appeared at Meadowbrook lake one day, one soon disappeared, the other mated with a local resident (probably the type pictured) then it too disappeared.  I can't find them in my Field Guide, so was wondering if these are introduced birds, and what are they?  Does anyone know?  As it turns out, another pair turned up at Scrubby Creek (Brisbane southside) and much the same thing happened.  Both pairs appeared at much the same time.  I never found out if the ducklings from the mixed pairings survived, or indeed, if the pairing was even successful.

I don't think you will find them in a Field Guide, they are an introduced species, and must have fled the cooking pot. The only thing they would be good for is eating, LOL (sorry)

Poor things.  They sure didnt' last long in the wild either.  I am intrigued by the way they walk upright.

Thank you.  I've never heard of those.  Thanks to now having the name, I am able to read up something about them on the web.

Yer thats thier funny walk or they mostly run around. Look really funny if you see 15 of them running around.

I've seen pics of them dressed up as Jemima Puddle Duck, a favourite character of mine.  Apparently they are not a flying duck and therefore great as egg laying domestic ducks.  They are not very big either.
