I watched her at Swan Lake ,Phillip Island. It was very sad to observe her inspecting the human vaste dumped in this beautiful lake. Shocking what we do to our wildlife. I just sat there ,taking lots of photos, tears in my eyes. It made me sad and angry at the same time.

She tried to eat it for more than 5 minutes, and then gave up.

(I was going to write comments under the pictures, but I won't. I'll leave you to your own thoughts)

I guess we all have to come to terms with the fact that not everyone feels as we do for our wildlife and its environment.  I actually was wondering if posting pics of birds, animals etc. having to contend with human contamination in the local newspapers would stir up anything?  By keeping it local, it might bring it "home" to some who might in turn take up the cause with others.

I'd never thought of it before.  I've rescued baby birds with legs strangled with fishing line, string, etc. and sadly been unable to rescue others, but never thought to photograph the damages.  I guess when you find a bird like that, your only thought is to get help.  But it would be a way to get people to see for themselves what can happen.

Great idea, Karen. Hit the media with photos of ecological & biodiversity destruction. Perhaps accompany the photos with shots of ecological & biodiversity protection & restoration to show how it can be done.

Thanks Karen, for giving me a new idea, I will do just that. The only problem is, the photos were not taken where I live, I have to make the text more general, to  emphasize the problem of the effect polution has on our native wildlife. Give me a few days, and I will find a way to do this.

(Woko, did you have a good day on your bike? did you see any Cape Barren Geese?)

Good luck.  I will also be more aware in future and when I see a problem I'll have my camera at the ready.  Imagine if a few people in each locality took it upon themselves to make others aware of the problems in their own "backyard", so to speak.

Postponed until tomorrow, Araminta. I.e, I chickened out due to threat of heavy rain & the wind not being in the right direction.
