I took these photos this morning and I am not certain what they are, I believe the first one is a juvenile Spectacled Monarch and the second is a juvenile Black-faced Monarch. I surely would like someone to help ID these birds for me. Thanks in advance.
From my perusal of my trusty Morcombe field guide I'd say you're right.
Thanks Woko, the only photo I have of a Monarch was from directly underneath so I wasn't sure.
Cheers

...cute-looking birds. I don't know anything about them and I'm pretty sure they are not around my part of Gippsland.

My book shows that the Black-faced Monarchs are seen down in Victoria but by the look of it not as common as further up the east coast. The Spectacled Monarch is not unfortunately. You still have access to some remarkable birds that we don't get up in Qld. I guess I will have to travel some more.

Yes, according to this site that I very cleverly found: http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Monarcha-melanopsis
... they are theoretically in much of Victoria, but they seem to be a pretty distinctive bird and I am sure I would notice if I saw one.
