my birding drive today was to Boorganna Nature Reserve, via Comboyne via Wauchope, NSW
I was that impressed with Araminta's Silvereye pics recently that I wanted to get a little bird to pose for me

HaHa, not bad! (just kidding) very nice. What makes you think this is a Striated Thornbill? I would say it is a Brown / Inland Thornbill. Check the eyes, they are red, if I'm not mistaken? The Striated Thornbill has brown eyes, and a whitish bar above the eye. (I might be wrong ?)

You certainly got the bird to pose for you and great photos they are. I have never even seen a Thornbill in the wild, so thanks.

Shane
"Right side. Now front on... work it, work it... lovely, yes I do think your left is your better side, darling"
Great shots, Peter. I'm with M-L on the brown thornbill, based on the eye colour in my Simpson and Day.
Cheers
Tim
Brisbane
you are right and thanks for correcting the false ID - red eyes and cinnamon rump & base of tail
I will claim that I was tired after a long day and will now edit the Topic name and related factsheets
