only a Kookaburra

Suddenly they are back, last year I had 4 young, they then moved somewhere else to breed. Now 4 of them have come back. I managed to sneak up very close before they took off.

(the photos are not cropped, and unchanged, just as they came out of the camera)

Enjoy, even if you think a Kockaburra is nothing too special.

If you are interested, No1 was taken with my 400mm Sony lens. shutter speed 1/200 sec   ISO 1600

No2, same lens, fully extended, shutter speed 1/250 sec  , ISO 1600

handheld, using my Sony SLT-A55V

They're pretty special around my way, too. We see them infrequently & spasmodically but were lucky to have 2 adults & 2 young a couple of weeks ago. I think we'd see more of them if we had nesting hollows.

I always enjoy pics of the kookaburra.  They are such a big part of our Aussie nature scene and  lovely pics like these will always be welcome.
