Long tailed finch

I set up a hide near a waterhole hoping to catch a gouldian finch (they didnt come) but I did get this long tailed finch.

Too bad about the Gouldians but these are a nice consolation prize, Headsie. I love the reflection and the early / late (?) light looks great.

Now isn't this spectacular, and a great looking bird. If you had captured the Gouldian Finch in this pose would have been absolutely brilliant. Hope you get a photo of the Gouldians because I would love to see that.

Had these finches as a boy but they did not look that good. In the wild they always look better.  The carmera is a canon eos 400d  with a 100\300 lense.I will take any tips as I am just trying it out instead of just watching .

Lovely colour and perfect reflection. You have a good excuse to go out again, to get photos of the Gouldians

Stunning shot Headsie heart

I love not only the reflection but the delicate whispiness (is that a word???) of the tail

Great photo but note the original post is 4 years old. It always amazes me how some of these old posts get dug up
