Peter do you know if this is the bird I have heard on a few occassions that has a whistle that sounds like it will run out of breath, it goes for that long.

I have had 4 sightings and generally in groups so could not distinguish the individuals
Definitely worth learning their call if they're in your area. You'll see them MUCH more this way than relying on just seeing them o'wise. (Likewise Crescent Honeyeaters incidentally).
Speaking of incidentally.... if anyone has an iPhone, and is willing to spend the (maybe) $30'ish to buy the app... The Michael Morcombe Guide to Australian Birds app is basically like having the field guide PLUS bird call recordings for all the birds of Aus.
Best 'bird book' money I've ever spent. Look into it if you have an iPhone...
Thanks for posting the photos of this beautiful little bird. They're one of my favourites for sure. You've done well to get these shots.
Being the hi tech nerd that I am, this app (I even speak the language) is already on my, would you believe it, iPad. It's very good. I hope to track down a similar frog app as the frogs are chorusing & carousing near our back door & I'd like to know who's doing what & how & with which & to whom.
I saw one of these only recently and it was the first I had seen, you managed to get far better photos of them than I could manage, well done.
Regards
Shane
Good find Peter, very attractive bird.
thanks Shane
you should know however that the processing room is strewn with the deleted pics

Nice shots. They are real fast movers, rarely sitting still. Well done.
Great shots of My nemesis, I'm yet to get a photo I'm happy with of these little speed demons, well done.
