Once again my trusty magna became a good birdhide as I finally managed to get a nicely lit shot of the Spooy's Bill
A busy White Necked Heron not far from the Spoonbill
These Intermediate egrets are just so graceful in flight
My car doubling as my bird hide lol
good pics Birdie
I like the Spoonbill's yellow eyebrows and red brow

Thanks Peter, it was not so long ago that I only dreamed of getting a closer pic and I only ever saw one on the odd occasion at our local pond. Now it seems I have found the perfect subject :) I am fascinated by the ridges on their bills and watching them work away in the shallows. As everything here is drying up the water birds are appearing closer to the coast...yay for us!

What a productive little wetland spot Adrienne, gotta love Queensland!
Cheers, Owen.
I'm excited to see one of these. I am sure they are around, but not around here. Great pics.

Brisbane southside.
Looks like a great spot for water birds. Cars make good hides don't they? I sometimes use mine for BOP
Oh, they moved accross the road, cool, glad you got some nice shots of these guys.

Owen, nice to see you here :) Kim.... my car works well as a hide even the white one we have!!! it is hard to imagine why they do not recognise them as having danger but they just dont.
Karl. they were moving back and forth across the road at various times, which was good as depending on which side they were on I could just sit in my driver's seat and shot away lol
There were several Spoonbills there at the same time, so I think one lot was a pair. NO grey fantails that day though...not one down that track!

Great shots Adrienne, i just love the Spoonbill. Your new spot looks like a great place to sit and snap away.
Just lovely stuff Adrienne! Love them all! You are very clever using your car as hide.
Thanks Akos , and as for my car, it is usually so dirty that if I give it a few more months it will look like part of the scenery anyway lol
Feel free to check out my Flickr pics and give me a critique on anything you think I can do better especially with the white birds. I might add a few shots to the tips and tricks forum with that in mind I think.
