Hi Bridges. Thanks for that. Lighting won't alter the contrast etc that much. Note the dark streaked nape on the second image as opposed to the pale nape on the first (adult) bird. Even in strong sunlight like the first bird, the spotting on the coverts etc would be much more obvious if it was a juvenile like the second bird.

Look like two different birds? Both Whistling Kites for sure - second image looks like a juvenile by the spotted back/wings. :)
Thanks. These were not my photos, but think it was the same bird. Perhaps the lighting made a difference. Definitely thought it was a juvenile.
