Bee Eaters

Was lucky enough to spot this pair as i was driving past, pulled up less than 3 metres away and they stayed put!

In the last photo, the bird is coughing up a "cast" of insect shells, which he just spat out a second later, got a blurry photo of that so not worth seeing. i checked out the cast when they flew off, legs and wings of about 3-4 insects, how strange! hadn't seen it before.

Interesting they cough up the indigestible bits.  Have seen butcher birds do that too.  These are really great shots of a bird that lives around here, but I have yet to see one.

Absolutely wonderful photos.I love the last one. (where is the beak of the one on the right? Did you crop it off?)

Great shots Hendo... they are a beautiful bird. Interesting about the behaviour ... maybe that is what happens when you eat bees ?wink

No not cropped, just a hurried shot!, yeah shame about that but put it up because of the behaviour more than the shot!

I like the last shot , they should show up down here soon . What top bird to watch flying around chasing bees.

See it!  Hear it!

Good looking pair of Bee-eaters Hendo, I am glad you explained what is going on in the last photo as it looks like the other one told it a bad joke. Nice stuff, I love these guys.
