NIce pic Peter...but they are bluer than that on the head and top of the back arent they normally? I will look and see if I can find one, I think I have only see one once anyway... up at Woodgate
Thanks, I love that 2nd to last one especially..that is a fairly accurate rendition of their colouring i think. I seem to have lost mine but kjust found one on flickr of a Juvenile and they look totally different
and another pic in 1/12 from Tinchi Tamba Wetlands, Pine Rivers (northern outskirts of Brisbane)
it seems that there is some natural colour variation with different birds; colour variation from different lighting conditions and then the camera settings variations
I've never seen one. What is their colour like under normal conditions? Or are they that blue?
M-L
The blue cast is from the low light M-L. they are a lovely steel blue colour and a pinky beige colour as the picture otherwise shows.
Good shot Peter, I love them and their hunchy poses

and a file pic from 1/11 also at Scarborough, Qld showing one in a mangrove setting for slightly better lighting and colouring

I suppose that it depends on the light and any post-processing
todays' pics are from the Raw files with just Levels adjusted, the other pic and those following are the original jpg files
the following pics are both at Scarborough, Qld in 7/11 and 1/12 respectively
the 7/11 pic at was taken within 20 metres of the 1/11 pic and may be the same bird
the 1/12 pic was taken about 150+ metres away
