Birds in my garden know me so well, hardly any of them fly off. This one I could have touched, I was that close. (None of the photos are cropped or sharpened.)
Enjoy.

I'm very sorry , I have just tried to change the way I post my photos. I had someone explain it to me, so he took the photos off and put them back, so people can't get into my Flickr account and take my photos. I don't know if I understand what he did? I will have to try a few more times before I get it.
A few weeks ago I talked to someone who told me he/she loves my photos and some of the other photos on here and takes them to do what ever with them. So I would urge everyone on here to do their best to prevent that from happening.
Wendy, I noticed you are even giving a link to your flickr account. Anyone can take your photos. I would like to find out , how to make it impossible to steal your photos?
I would love to get some instructions how to prevent that from happening. Please , do tell me how to do it!!!????
M-L
Hi Wendy, thanks, I just took your photo of a beautiful Egret, I hope you don't mind? I just love it so much, that I had to take it.
Seriously, I did it to prove the [point I was making, ANYONE CAN TAKE our photos, we should protect them.
M-L
And Wendy, I love Steffie, is that your dog? To prove my point again, you protected your photo so I can't put it on FB etc, but I can e-mail it to my PC.
Sorry,to use you as an example, but do people know, all our photos are fair game for everyone???
I might be opening a hornet's nest here? But do people know? Do they even care??
M-L
Yes, that has been worrying me recently as well. I'll take the ref out of my signature. No problems using me as an example. All my photos (not that they're probably worth stealing) are automatically set to full copyright in my account options but I actually only noticed the "download" option there this week. At first I thought it was only visible to me for my own photos but I then saw it on someone else's. I can't believe there isn't a block option somewhere. I have seen people embed their own copyright onto some part of the photo (say the branch the bird is sitting on) so the acquirer can't crop the copyright out.
Steffi is one of my crew. I used to breed/show them. That reminds me ... years ago there was a website where kids would pretend they were kennel owners and they were pulling pics from real breeders websites and renaming the dogs and claiming "ownership", etc. Caused quite a furore at the time. There are pretend horse owner sites for that too.

I compress my pics and use the 'Attachments - Picture - add a new file' option on the post page of this site
the pics are usually less than 100kb and therefore I believe not of much use to anyone

Agree pacman, unless people upload very high resolution photo's not a lot can be achieved by *stealing* them IMHO.
On the other hand I have sold quite a few photographs people have viewed through my flickr account.

Marion and pacman, I think that is the view of most flickr members and one which I have always held. if is it low res then they can only really look at it online or re post and if you ever find this happening Flickr will act on the breach of copyright. I think a nice watermark suchh as Araminta has is a good idea as it doesnt detract from your shot but it can be placed on a branch or anywhere else it you wnat to make it harder for people to get rid of.
Unfortunately it means we cannot post the best version of a pic but you can optimise it to make it look good onscreen.
I just dont worry about it until I want to make money from my shots .... and that is unlikely to ever happen for me but I live in hope. When and if I get to that point I will put a watermark on and hope for the best I guess.

Awesome portraits M-L! I never tire of seeing these parrots.
Cheers, Owen.
From what I've been reading here & elsewhere & seeing on TV it's clear a significant part of humanity has quickly evolved into Homo hypochondriaticus. The trigger for this speedy evolution has been the sudden appearance on Earth of Internetia globulus.
Woko, would you care to explain? (I do understand , but how does it relate to me? I'm not a hypochongriaticus (a?), the stealing of photos and what follows is a stark reality)
M-L
Gorgeous M-L, I did get some photos of these on my recent holiday, but sun was in wrong place and very early as well so I will content myself in looking at yours instead.
Regards
Shane
Hi Araminta. No wonder you were confused! It seems I was too! The species into which a significant proportion of Homo sapiens seems to be evolving is, of course, Homo kleptomanicus, not Homo hypochondriaticus which is an entirely different species. My apologies. I was referring to the seeming explosion in the number of people who are stealing from people (hence the Homo kleptomanicus) by using the internet (hence the Internetia globulus), whether it be intellectual property, identities, money or even self respect that's being stolen.
I'm glad you cleared that up, I thought you would know by now I'm a realist. (and also a humanist , but that I have to explain to some people, because they get a bit confused about what that means, ,I'm not)

Glorious! King and eclectus parrots seem to "glow" with those red feathers...so lovely.
