o, what happened??

Yesterday I noticed that my wren looked a bit tired, he was sitting on the ground as if he was resting, then I took a photo and thought he was just resting one leg. But this morning I saw the unthinkable has happened, "he lost one of his little legs". He has lots of problems ballancing on branches, but still sings to his girl as loud as he can. I hope he will be fine.sad

First photo was taken yesterday:

have a close look at the spot where his leg was, hope it heals?

I'm worried about him, I just saw him getting attacked by another male. I also had a feeling the girl followed the other guy.

(well, that's how nature works)

That must have been a shocking find.  He is probably in shock, so we can only hope he does heal, poor baby.

He is still around and very close to his girl, he can't help her, it's very sad to watch. He sits on the fence, while she feeds the babies in the nest non stop. I can hear them now, can't be long and they will come out. I hope I will be there to take photos, just like last year? I took lots of photos of her today, she is not worried about me standing there. Then again she has no choice, they have to be fed.

Thanks Karen for your interest in this.

It is sad, nature can be so cruel.  I can only hope the babies make it with just the one parent to care for them.

Yes Adrienne, he can still fly, but he has problems balancing to sit on branches, he flicks his tail and wings  a lot . He is feeding himself no problems, he rests a lot as you can see in some of the photos I posted, and he stays close to his girl. I just came home  and saw him, but there is some heavy rain, and I don't know how the young ones are? I will have to wait until tomorrow to find them, it isit is getting darker and still rains. I will let you know.

It is sad M-L but I am pretty sure he will adapt eventually.
